Privacy Policy
Slim: Photo & Video Compress (“Slim”, “the App”) is provided by POCKETCANOPY PTY LTD (ABN 75 702 471 350), an Australian company trading as Pocket Canopy (“Pocket Canopy”, “we”, “us”, “our”). Slim is a photo and video compression app that runs entirely on your device. This policy explains what information the App and this website, slimhk.com, do and do not handle, and your rights over it. If anything is unclear, email us at support@slimhk.com.
The short version: Slim has no servers, no accounts and no analytics. Your photos and videos never leave your phone. Apart from emails you choose to send us, the only data collected is the anonymous purchase record Apple and our billing provider need to keep your Slim Pro purchase working: never your name, and never your media.

Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, Pocket Canopy is the “data controller” for the limited data described below.
2. On-device processing: the core of how Slim works
All compression, similar-photo detection and metadata handling happens locally on your device. Specifically:
- Photo library access. Slim asks for access to your photo library so it can show your albums, estimate how much space you can save, compress the photos and videos you choose, and save the compressed copies back to your library. You can change this access at any time in your device’s Settings.
- No uploads. Your photos and videos are never transmitted to us or to any third party. Slim operates without any backend server of ours.
- No account. There is no sign-up, login, email capture or user profile.
- No tracking. Slim does not use advertising SDKs, does not build a profile of you, and does not track you across apps or websites. No App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown because no such tracking occurs.
3. Data stored on your device
- Settings and history. Your settings and your compression history (such as how much space each run saved) are kept in the App’s own storage on your device. They are removed when you delete the App.
- Free allowance and Slim Pro status. How much of the free allowance you have used, and whether Slim Pro is active, are kept in the iOS Keychain on your device so that they survive deleting and reinstalling the App. This record contains no personal information and is not sent to us.
4. Information we do not collect
We do not collect, store, transmit, sell or share any of the following:
- Your photos, videos or Live Photos, or any content within them.
- Photo metadata such as capture date, GPS location or camera information. Slim reads this metadata only on your device and only to preserve it on the compressed copy so your library stays organized. It is never sent anywhere.
- Your name, email address, phone number or contacts, unless you choose to email us (see section 6).
- Your device’s precise or coarse location.
- Usage analytics, crash logs tied to your identity, or behavioral data.
5. Information collected by third parties (purchases only)
Slim offers an optional paid upgrade, Slim Pro. To sell and validate that purchase, two third parties process a small amount of purchase-related data. We never receive your identity from them.
a) Apple
When you buy Slim Pro, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes your payment and manages billing, renewals and refunds under its own privacy policy (apple.com/legal/privacy). We never see your credit card, Apple Account or contact details.
b) RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat, Inc. as our billing and subscription infrastructure provider. RevenueCat validates your App Store purchase so the App knows whether Slim Pro is active. To do this it processes:
- An anonymous, app-generated user identifier (a random ID, not your name, email or Apple Account).
- Purchase history for this app (which product you bought, and its status: active, expired or refunded).
- Basic device and technical data (for example IP address, device model, operating system version and country) used to operate and secure the service.
RevenueCat acts as our data processor and does not use this data to advertise to you. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
In App Store privacy-label terms, this is the only data the App collects: Purchase History and a Device ID (anonymous), both used solely for App Functionality (keeping your purchase working), not linked to your identity and not used for tracking.
6. When you email us
- If you email support@slimhk.com, from the App or from this website, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and your message. We use them only to reply and to handle your enquiry.
- Our email is hosted by Zoho in Australia. We keep enquiries for as long as we need them and for up to 5 years.
7. This website
- slimhk.com has no accounts, forms, cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking. Our fonts and images are served from this website, not from a third party.
- The website is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver and protect it, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for, and keeps it briefly in security logs.
8. How this data is used, and our legal bases (GDPR)
The data described above is used only to:
- Verify and restore your Slim Pro entitlement across reinstalls and devices.
- Reply to you and provide support if you contact us.
- Detect and prevent fraud and abuse of the purchase system, and keep this website secure.
Where GDPR applies, our legal bases are performance of a contract (delivering the Slim Pro features you paid for) and our legitimate interests (replying to your messages, securing the purchase system and this website, and preventing fraud).
9. Data retention
We operate no servers for the App, so we never hold a copy of your media. Data kept on your device is described in section 3, and emails in section 6. Apple and RevenueCat retain purchase records for as long as needed to operate billing and to meet their legal, tax and accounting obligations, under their own policies.
10. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent or trade any data. Purchase data is shared only with the processors strictly required to sell you Slim Pro, Apple and RevenueCat, as described in section 5. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
11. International data transfers
Apple, RevenueCat and Cloudflare may process the limited data described above in the United States and other countries. Where required, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses) provided by those companies under their own privacy programs.
12. Your privacy rights
The App keeps no personal data on any server of ours, so for App data most rights (access, correction, deletion) have nothing for us to act on directly. You can exercise your rights over emails you have sent us, and over purchase data held by our processors, as follows.
Australia
You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing support@slimhk.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
European Economic Area, UK or Switzerland (GDPR / UK GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Email support@slimhk.com and we will help route your request to the relevant processor. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California (CCPA / CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, to correct it, and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing”. We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not process it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, email support@slimhk.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Other regions
Residents of other jurisdictions with similar laws may contact us at the same address to exercise any rights available to them.
13. Children’s privacy
Slim is rated 4+ and is a general-audience utility. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). Because the App requires no account and sends no personal data to us, no such collection takes place. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact us and we will address it.
14. Security
Slim’s privacy-by-design architecture is its main safeguard: with no servers, no accounts and no uploads, there is no central store of your data to breach. Purchase validation relies on the encrypted infrastructure operated by Apple and RevenueCat.
15. Third-party services
The App, this website and this policy rely on services operated by Apple, RevenueCat and Cloudflare, each governed by its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties.
16. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the date above.
